                              Frequently Asked Questions:

Why did the YAB Foundation for Giving establish this scholarship?

This scholarship fund was established in the memory of Yaqub Brock. Yaqub was  passionate about sports, camp, animals, gaming, anime, and other activities.  He was a gifted student but enjoyed his time away from class with his friends.  The Foundation wants other young people to enjoy a full range of fun and enriching activities outside of the classroom.

What is the mission of the program?

We partner with families and organizations to help teens participate in memorable and fun enrichment activities outside of school time.  We provide financial support so that they can access extracurricular activities such as sports, the arts, special-interest clubs, and technology.

How will donated funds be managed?

The Foundation's vision is to raise awareness and funding for extra-curricula programs that inspire creativity, build confidence, and stimulate critical thinking in young people.  Our Foundation, a 501.c3 organization (Tax ID #88-3706268), will collect, administer and distribute any donated funds to programs and organizations that are aligned with our mission.

Who will review and select recipients of the scholarships?

Scholarship applications are reviewed twice a year by a five (5) member advisory board that includes Dr. Cheron Sutton-Brock, Yaqub's mom and the founder of the YAB Foundation for Giving.
